The 8th Edition of Rwanda Mining Week, held from December 2 to 5, 2025, at the Kigali Convention Centre, proved to be a pivotal event for the global minerals sector, and a resounding success for Global Sampling amp; Analysis LTD (GSA). Under the theme Minerals for a Smarter and Greener Future, the week showcased Rwanda’s commitment to responsible mining, value addition, and attracting strategic global investment.
Key Takeaways from the High-Level Speeches
The event was officially opened by Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, whose keynote address underscored the sectors importance. He emphasized the governments commitment to positioning Rwanda as a principled, responsible and reliable partner and supplier of strategic minerals. The Prime Minister highlighted that mining is not just extraction, but a key driver for growth, innovation, and shared prosperity, while stressing the importance of a stable and transparent regulatory environment fully aligned with international standards. He called for intensified efforts to adopt environmentally friendly practices.
Alice Uwase, CEO of the RWANDA MINES, PETROLEUM AND GAS BOARD(RMB) , delivered an inspiring address, focusing on the transformative journey of the Rwandan mining sector. She noted, “Minerals are part of our everyday lives, powering everything from electric vehicles to mobile phones”, and stressed that Rwanda is moving towards mechanized extraction, on-site beneficiation, and advanced value addition. CEO Uwase encouraged delegates to join hands in building a sector that is inclusive, transparent, productive, and globally competitive, welcoming all to explore Rwanda’s growing opportunities along the mineral value chain.

The New Investment Pitchbook: 10 Accessible Minefields
A major highlight of the week was the launch of the second edition of the Mining Investment Pitchbook by the RMB. This publication immediately made ten new exploration and mining blocks accessible to investors. The new concessions cover a diverse and strategic array of critical minerals, including: Tin (Sn), Tantalum (Ta), Niobium (Nb), Lithium (Li), Beryllium (Be), Wolfram (W), Gold (Au), High-Value Gemstones (e.g., Sapphires, Tourmaline). These blocks are backed by new geological data from nationwide mapping, providing investors with geological certainty and a clear, data-driven entry point into Rwanda’s mineral value chains. The pitchbook reflects the country’s strategic shift toward attracting large-scale, professional exploration companies.
Global Sampling & Analysis LTD (GSA) maintained a highly visible and successful exhibition booth, attracting significant interest from both local mining companies and international investors. Our presence served as a powerful platform to reinforce our standing as a premier ISO-accredited laboratory and a trusted partner in the region’s mineral supply chain. We were presenting portable XRF-equipment as well as several examples of reference materials prepared using different sample preparation methods. Our demostration was to show how important quality sample preparation for accuracy and precision of analysis.
